MarineMax Fishing Team Will Compete in 2015 Reef Cup on Hatterascal

January 14, 2015 – Key Largo, Florida – MarineMax Ocean Reef announced today that they will be competing in the 30th Annual Reef Cup Invitational Sailfish Tournament that will be held January 20 – 24, 2015. The MarineMax team will be aboard a Hatteras 54 GT aptly named “Hatterascal” for this event.

“The Hatteras 54 GT is the lightest, quickest and most agile Hatteras in the GT Series giving the MarineMax team a day to day flexibility,” Reda explained. “With over 50-years of experience building premier sport-fishing boats, Hatteras has unmatched experience in designing, engineering and delivering boats that exceed expectations.”

The Reef Cup began in 1986 with 25 sport-fishing boats from as far away as Texas and South Carolina. The 2015 Reef Cup will pit 60 teams in a competition that over the last 30-years has experienced anguishing days with minimal activity to exhilarating record breaking successes.

“Every year we look forward to fishing this highly competitive event. Teams from all over the United States will descend onto Key Largo and the Ocean Reef Club to participate this amazing invitational tournament,” offered Ken Reda, Sales Manager at MarineMax Ocean Reef. “It is a great week of serious sailfishing combined with lively celebrations and something new each evening that includes a variety of cocktail socials, dinners and entertainment, even a live auction.”

The Reef Cup is also a tournament qualifier for the Ocean Reef Club Sailfish Champion Series which awards the winning team an entry to the IGFA Offshore World Championship.
