FishStock – Celebrating the Fishing Lifestyle


FishStock bills itself as “The Total Saltwater Experience” for a good reason. The three day event, May 22 – 24, celebrates fishing in New Smyrna Beach-style featureing the 39th Annual New Smyrna Beach Striker Offshore Tournament and the 13th Annual New Smyrna Beach Redfish-Trout Challenge. Other activities include a boat show, KidsStock, the FishStock 5K run/walk, seminars, food, refreshments and entertainment. Whether you are fishing, running or just hanging, FishStock in New Smyrna Beach is the place to be.

Both the inshore and offshore tournaments kick off on Friday, May 22 with final registration at the Women’s Club of New Smyrna Beach. All teams must check in at the registration desk to receive tournament credentials and captain’s bag. A representative from each team must attend the Captain’s Meeting at the Women’s Club. The Dockside Party with beer garden, food and refreshments will be at Riverside Park and is open to the public from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m..

The New Smyrna Beach Striker Offshore Tournament, presented by MarineMax and Boston Whaler, targets wahoo, dolphin, king mackerel and tuna. Eligible tuna are restricted to yellowfin, blackfin and bigeye. The tournament runs for two days, Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24. MarineMax and Boston Whaler have each contributed $2,500 to sponsor the largest offshore fish of the day award. Every registered boat is eligible boat to win the largest fish of the day. Awards for targeted species will be given for the four heaviest fish in each of the categories. The top four teams having the most accumulated points will win the Overall Boat Awards. There are also two Tournaments Within a Tournament (TWT). A separate entry fee for the Overall Points Winners and Heaviest Offshore Fish Daily Jackpot enters already registered teams eligible for these TWT prizes. There are also awards for Lady Angler and Junior Angler.

MarineMax and Boston Whaler are also the presenting sponsors for the New Smyrna Beach Redfish – Trout Challenge that is also presented by MarineMax and Boston Whaler, runs for the two days, concurrently with the offshore tournament. Teams can launch or fish from any inshore location in Volusia County including both north and south sides of the Ponce Inlet jetties. Fish-category winner will be for the three heaviest fish aggregate in each category. Top overall boat awards are the aggregate weight of both categories over the two days of fishing. Each boat can weigh two legal redfish and one trout. Teams as asked to make every effort to keep redfish alive. There are three categories for the optional TWT, Redfish Daily Jackpot based on the total weight of Redfish each day, Trout Daily Jackpot based on the heaviest single trout each day and Redfish with the Most Spots Daily Jackpot. There will also be awards for Lady Angler and Junior Angler.

In conjunction with the tournaments, the FishStock Boat Show will be held Saturday, May 23rd, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 24th, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. There will be some of the best fish boat brands presented by the top local dealerships for both inshore and offshore models.

At KidStock, the first 50 kids to sign-up and participatein each KidStock fishing seminar will receive a free rod and reel combo, courtesy of Fish Florida! KidStock Seminars are at noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on both Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24. A special Inshore Tools, Tactics and Techniques Seminar will be Saturday only at noon through 4 p.m. Captain Geoffrey Page and Captain Russell Tharin of the Chevy Florida Insider Fishing Report will be covering tips for rigging your boat and offering up advice for fishing inshore in northeast Florida including what, when and where to fish with baits, lures and flies.
