MarineMax Board Member Receives Outstanding Director Award

CLEARWATER, Fla., (December 3, 2015) – In a ceremony held at the Straz Center, the Tampa Bay Business Journal in conjunction with their sponsors, CBIZ MHM LLC, Foley & Lardner, and SunTrust Bank Tampa Bay, honored MarineMax’s Board of Director member, Hilliard Eure III, by naming him the Outstanding Director Award recipient for a public company under $1 billion in market capitalization.

At the inaugural Outstanding Director Awards dinner held November 19, Tampa Bay Business Journal recognized selected board members of public companies and non-profit organizations for their work in helping their related organizations thrive. Bill Tapp, Senior Managing Director at CBIZ MHM Tampa Bay, the presenting sponsor, commented on the many qualities board members must possess to be successful stewards.

“One key trait is integrity, which is vital to keep boards strong. In addition to integrity, directors need to be visionaries,” said Tapp.

Mr. Eure had a thirty-year career with KPMG, including as the managing partner of KPMG’s Tampa Office, until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Eure joined the MarineMax Board of Directors in 2004. Mr. Eure is the Lead Director and Audit Committee Chair for the MarineMax Board of Directors.

Bill McGill, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President, stated, “Hilliard’s background and career experience has proven invaluable to MarineMax over the years. We appreciated his help early on as we adopted the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley. His guidance during the Great Recession was very helpful to our Board as we navigated the difficult times that our industry went thru. His broad business knowledge through his previous career assists us regularly as we contemplate the many decisions that arise as we execute our strategies.”

In accepting the award, Eure gave tribute to Bill McGill, CEO and President of MarineMax, for his leadership and vision. He praised the MarineMax Board, the management team that helped guide MarineMax through recessionary times and the extraordinary progress MarineMax has made building and growing the business. Eure also remarked on the focus throughout the company on “team” and working from the common perspective that “MarineMax and boating changes people’s lives”.
